Fuel prices are rising from midnight — diesel by 3.5 denars per liter and gasoline by 1.5 denars, the Energy Regulatory Commission decided today. With the new decision, diesel has now crossed the 100-denar-per-liter threshold.
The regulator attributes the price changes to movements on global oil and petroleum product markets, as well as shifts in the dollar exchange rate. Such monthly — and sometimes more frequent — adjustments are routine, but this time the diesel increase is particularly sensitive for transporters and farmers, whose costs get passed directly into transport and product prices.
Every Increase, New Frustration
Fuel price changes routinely trigger political sparring — the opposition has already seized on past government statements about lowering prices, pointing out that every announced "measure" so far has ended in another increase rather than relief. The government, for its part, again points to external factors beyond its control as the main driver of price movements.
For residents, the increase means a direct hit to monthly budgets, particularly at a time when inflation is already pressuring multiple aspects of everyday life.
