Prilep Mayor Assesses Storm Damage in Golemo Konjari

Yesterday's hail and heavy rain left visible damage to farmland in the village, part of wider crop damage reported across the Prilep region.

Prilep Mayor Dejan Prodanoski visited the village of Golemo Konjari today to personally assess the damage from yesterday's severe storm, which brought heavy rain and hail.

The storm, which arrived right after days of extreme heat, left visible damage across the area's farmland — hail often causes more serious damage to crops than the rain itself, especially when it hits after a prolonged dry spell, when plants are already under stress.

Damage Assessment Underway

Municipal services have already begun surveying and assessing the damage to farmers in the affected area, a step that typically precedes formal requests for compensation or state assistance. Following his visit, Prodanoski said the municipality would continue monitoring the aftermath and stay in touch with relevant institutions to support affected households.

Golemo Konjari isn't the only settlement hit by the storm — similar damage is being reported in other parts of the Prilep region, where farmers have spent several days assessing the combined effects of the heat wave and the storm.
