Severe Weather Warning Issued for All of Macedonia
Strong winds, heavy rain and possible hail are forecast, in what could also bring partial relief for firefighting efforts nationwide.
The Hydrometeorological Administration issued a warning for severe weather across all of Macedonia today, Saturday August 29, forecasting storm systems accompanied by strong winds, heavy rain and possible hail.
Forecasters expect instability to peak in the afternoon and evening hours, when temperature differences between air masses traditionally create conditions for rapid storm development. Residents are advised to secure open outdoor spaces around their homes and avoid unnecessary travel during the storm's peak intensity.
Possible Relief for the Fires
While the storm carries risk of localized flooding and fallen trees, it could also bring partial relief in the fight against active fires across the country — rainfall and lower temperatures typically make it harder for flames to spread, at least temporarily.
This marks the second round of severe weather in just a few days, following an earlier wave that damaged farmland in the Prilep region — a reminder that the shift from extreme heat to unstable weather carries its own challenges, even when it finally brings welcome relief.
