Levica, DUI and SDSM in One Sentence: Does a United Opposition Really Exist

While the three parties jointly block changes to the Election Law, Levica accuses SDSM of choosing a deal with Mickoski over opposition unity — showing how solid the 'united opposition' really is behind their joint moves.

Interior Minister Pance Toshkovski accused "Levica of working for SDSM and DUI," referencing an announced interpellation against the government. At the same time, the three parties are jointly seen as blocking amendments to the Election Law — according to the ruling party, it's a "joint project of SDSM, Levica and DUI," with Mickoski saying they should come up with their own proposal, since the government favors diaspora voting.

Yet behind the joint blocking of the Election Law doesn't necessarily lie a solid alliance. Levica directly accused "SDSM of choosing a deal with Mickoski over opposition unity" — a statement suggesting deep distrust among the opposition parties themselves, not just opposition to the ruling coalition.

This combination — joint action on specific issues like the Election Law, followed by mutual accusations of secret deals — shows that a "united opposition" is more tactical cooperation on individual points than a strategic alliance. For citizens, the difference matters: a temporary alignment of interests isn't the same as a shared platform for an alternative government.
