District Heating Gets Pricier: About 1,700 Denars More a Year for a 60 Square Meter Flat, and the Heating Season in Skopje Starts on October 15
According to a calculation by the energy regulator for a model flat, heating this season costs about 29,916 denars a year versus 28,233 last year; the price from August 1 is 2.8491 denars per kilowatt-hour.
The 2026/2027 heating season for Skopje households connected to the ESM district heating system officially starts on October 15. From August 1, the price of thermal energy is 2.8491 denars per kilowatt-hour, plus a capacity fee of 1,661.9862 denars per kilowatt per year.
The Energy Regulatory Commission calculated a model flat of 60 square meters with annual consumption of 7,000 kilowatt-hours and a 6-kilowatt connection: the bill comes to about 29,916 denars a year, or about 2,493 denars a month. For the same model last year the calculation was about 28,233 denars, so the example is about 1,700 denars more expensive.
The price per square meter has not been published, and the text does not say whether the per-kilowatt-hour price itself changed. For those heating with electricity, the high tariff ranges from 4.7074 to 7.8537 denars per kilowatt-hour and the low tariff is 2.1893 denars, excluding transmission and distribution costs. The actual bill depends on insulation and consumption — the example is a calculation, not an average.
