IMF and World Bank in Bangkok October 12–18: The World Is Growing Only 3% While Inflation Is 4.7% — What to Expect
The Annual Meetings are held in Bangkok, and the World Economic Outlook is released the same week; in July the IMF cut growth to 3 percent and raised inflation to 4.7 percent.
The IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings are held in Bangkok from October 12 to 18, and the World Economic Outlook (WEO) is released during those days, according to the Caixin calendar. The calendar also notes that Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh speaks on October 16.
In its July update the IMF revised global growth down to 3 percent and global inflation up to 4.7 percent, according to summaries of that edition. Analysts described it as a “precarious balance between war and technology.” What the October edition will show is not known at the time of writing.
For a small country like Macedonia the question is practical: energy and food are priced on global markets, and the Middle East and Hormuz are at the center of the uncertainty. The IMF’s new numbers for the world and the region will show whether an “expensive winter” is expected in Europe too.
