Inflation of 2.7% Here Versus 3.8% in the Eurozone: Food Is Only 1% Dearer, but Leisure and Recreation 8.8%

Annual inflation in Macedonia in September is 2.7%; in August recreation and culture jumped most (8.8%) while food rose just 1%; the eurozone is at 3.8%, a three-year high.

Annual inflation in Macedonia in September 2026 is 2.7 percent, after 2.6 in August and 2.3 percent in July — a two-year low. In the eurozone, prices rose 3.8 percent in September, the highest in three years, as energy prices surged.

The August breakdown shows why the average can mislead: recreation and culture rose 8.8 percent (from 5.7), transport 3.4 percent (from 1.1), restaurants and hotels 4.8 percent, housing costs 3.8 percent. Food and non-alcoholic beverages rose only 1.0 percent, furniture 1.7 percent, and insurance and financial services 0.3 percent. Month on month, prices in August rose 0.4 percent.

What the October figure will be, we do not know. The gap with the eurozone does not mean things are “cheap”: the average hides that leisure, transport and hospitality are rising much faster than food. If you turn to winter bills, electricity and heating (which are part of housing costs) are next in line.
