All State Resources Deployed to Protect Mount Kitka From Spreading Fire

Firefighting crews are focused on cutting firebreaks as the blaze threatens to spread toward nearby settlements, one of 8 active fires nationwide.

All available state resources have been deployed to protect Mount Kitka, where the priority is preventing the active wildfire there from spreading toward nearby populated areas.

According to the latest information, a total of 23 open-air fires were recorded across the country as of last night, eight of them still active, one under control, and 14 fully extinguished. The Kitka fire is among the priority hot spots, precisely because of its proximity to populated areas and the potential risk to residents' homes.

A Coordinated Response

Firefighting crews supported by aerial resources are involved in the effort, with the operation focused on cutting firebreaks and tracking wind direction, which under prolonged drought and high temperatures can quickly shift the fire's course.

While a direct threat to homes has not been confirmed, authorities are urging residents near the mountain to stay alert and follow official updates as the situation develops.
