Government Prepares Law on Tourism Development Zones, Focused on Berovo
Mickoski announced increased subsidies for foreign tourists and a bigger share of gambling revenue for tourism development.
Tourism development in Berovo is one of the government's top priorities, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said today, announcing preparation of a law that would enable the creation of tourism development zones across the country.
Mickoski also announced increased subsidies for foreign tourists visiting the country, as well as a larger share of gambling revenue directed specifically toward tourism development. According to him, Berovo is already seeing concrete results from these policies.
Mayor Confirms Growth
"I'm encouraged by what the mayor told me — that this year there's already a noticeably livelier atmosphere and several times more tourists visiting Berovo," Mickoski said, noting that tourism development in the town remains among the government's top priorities.
The planned law on tourism development zones is meant to create a more formalized framework for further investment in tourism infrastructure across the country's less-developed regions, where natural and cultural resources have so far remained underused.
