Macedonia Enters Final Days of Mediterranean Games With Five Medals
The overall tally across four Games appearances now stands at 19 medals, with wrestling, karate and taekwondo remaining the pillars of success.
The Mediterranean Games in Taranto are entering their final two days of competition, with Macedonia holding a tally of five medals — two silvers and three bronzes, all won in wrestling and boxing.
In the remaining days, hopes for an additional medal remain alive in a few individual disciplines where Macedonian competitors are still in action, including rhythmic gymnast Ilina Sokolovska, who performed with all four apparatus — ball, hoop, clubs and ribbon — and swimmer Stefan Todorov in the 50m freestyle.
The Historic Context of the Success
With the current five medals from Taranto, Macedonia's overall tally across four Mediterranean Games appearances climbs to 19 medals — three golds (from karate and wrestling at Oran 2022), four silvers and twelve bronzes. Wrestling, karate and taekwondo remain the pillars of Macedonian success at this competition.
The Games officially close on September 3, and MKNews Hub has followed the Macedonian delegation's campaign every day since it began on August 21.
