Macedonia Wins Silver and Two Bronze at International Informatics Olympiad
High schoolers competed against the world's best young programmers at IOI 2026 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Macedonia won one silver and two bronze medals at the 38th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2026), held from August 9 to 16 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan — the world's most prestigious competition for high school students in algorithmic programming.
This year's edition marked the first time IOI has been held in Uzbekistan, and Macedonia once again delivered outstanding results at the highest global level, confirming an already well-established tradition of success in this field.
A Year-Round Preparation Cycle
The students on Macedonia's team were selected through a year-round series of competitions regularly organized by the Computer Science Society of Macedonia (ZIM) — held this year for the 37th time. The competitions run through the mendo.mk platform, available year-round to any interested competitor across the country.
The success of Macedonian high schoolers at international informatics competitions like this has for years stood as evidence that the domestic education system, backed by dedicated teachers and mentors, is producing young talent capable of competing on equal footing with the best in the world.
