Process Underway: Bids Due October 8 for Consultant on Radovish–Strumica–Bulgaria Border Expressway
Nikoloski: We'll fund it from our own state roads agency, with construction expected to start by next autumn.
North Macedonia has launched the procedure for selecting a consulting firm to prepare documentation for an expressway running from Radovish, through Strumica and Novo Selo, to the border crossing with Bulgaria. The bidding deadline is October 8, 2026.
Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski said the feasibility studies will take six to nine months, after which — if all goes according to plan — construction is expected to begin by next autumn. "We will fund it with our own resources through the Public Enterprise for State Roads. PESR is in good financial shape, with strong revenues," Nikoloski said.
He stressed the project will not stop at Strumica but will continue all the way to the Bulgarian border, giving the region a direct expressway link to the neighboring country.
