In the first seven months of 2026, North Macedonia welcomed a total of 741,446 tourists, according to data released to mark World Tourism Day. Most foreign visitors came from Turkey, Germany and Serbia.
The figure continues the sector's steady growth trend, which in recent years has consistently seen rising overnight stays and revenue, driven by investment in hotel infrastructure and promotion of the country in foreign markets.
Analysts caution, however, that the real test of tourism becoming a "stable pillar" of the economy will be whether growth continues outside the summer season, through the development of winter, spa and cultural tourism, which still lag behind the summer peak.
