A protest was held at Skopje's Skenderbeg Square following the verdict handed down by The Hague's Specialist Chambers against four former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders.
On September 16, the trial panel found Hashim Thaçi and Jakup Krasniqi guilty, sentencing each to 25 years in prison, while Kadri Veseli received 18 years and Rexhep Selimi 13 years. The court acquitted them of charges related to crimes against humanity. The verdict is a first-instance ruling and is subject to appeal.
The Skopje protest, part of wider reactions also registered in Pristina and Preševo, was held peacefully, with no official reaction reported from North Macedonian authorities at the time of publication. The event underscored the sensitive regional dimensions of the ruling in areas with significant ethnic Albanian populations.
