Velkovski: Young People Must Be Heard and Actively Involved in Shaping the Policies That Affect Them

At a Western Balkans youth ministerial meeting held in Montenegro, Macedonian government representative Velkovski said young people must be heard and actively involved in shaping the policies that directly affect them, rather than remaining passive recipients of decisions already made.
He said the goal is to cover all policies relevant to young people — from education and employment to participation in public life — through a more concrete and systematic consultative framework. Velkovski added that the government plans to establish a single platform bringing together all existing youth programs, scholarships and opportunities, currently scattered across multiple institutions.
Addressing counterparts from the region, he stressed that young people should be treated as active partners in shaping reforms, particularly in the context of the EU accession process, where the youth perspective often remains on the margins of broader political debates.
