Tax Modernization: 27,345 Requests in September — Fewer Counters, or Just a New Portal
The national e-services portal recorded a record number of submissions in September, pushing total requests past 400,000 since launch — but whether counter queues are actually shrinking remains an open question.
The national e-services portal (uslugi.gov.mk) processed 27,345 requests in September 2026 — its best monthly result to date outside the period of the ICT voucher campaign. This pushed the total number of submissions since the platform's launch past 400,000.
Digital Transformation Minister Stefan Andovski emphasized the vision behind the project: "When the service is simple, accessible and fully electronic, citizens use it." The goal is for more administrative procedures to be completed entirely remotely, eliminating counter visits, unnecessary waiting and the transfer of documents between institutions.
The growth is attributed to an expanded range of services, streamlined procedures and stronger institutional partnerships — particularly cooperation with the State Statistical Office to digitize student and academic services. Still, concrete figures on any reduction in physical counter visits remain unclear — that is, whether the rise in digital requests actually means fewer citizens standing in line, or simply an additional parallel channel alongside existing counters.
