'Untouchable for 15 Years': Criminal Network Dismantled in Prilep, €130,000 and 10 Luxury Cars Seized
Interior Minister Pance Toshkovski reveals details of an organized group that operated for more than 15 years in theft, drug trafficking and money laundering across Macedonia, Greece, Spain and France.
Interior Minister Pance Toshkovski has revealed details of a dismantled serious organized criminal group in Prilep, saying it "operated untouchably by law enforcement for more than 15 years." Around 21 people were arrested in the operation.
The group is charged with aggravated theft, drug trafficking and money laundering, with activity across Macedonia, Greece (the Halkidiki and Kalymnos regions), Spain and France. One suspect was detained in Spain after 10 kilograms of cocaine destined for Macedonia were found in a hidden vehicle compartment. More than 30 searches led to the seizure of roughly €120,000 to €130,000 in cash and about 10 vehicles, including two Maseratis and two luxury Range Rovers.
The investigation suggests certain police officers leaked information to gang members, with some proceeds laundered through real estate purchases in Serbia. "Our goal is documenting the crimes and confiscating assets acquired through criminal activity for the benefit of the state," Toshkovski said, adding that the case continues in coordination with the public prosecution.
