3.3 Million Passengers in Nine Months: Where the New Skopje and Ohrid Routes Actually Go

Skopje and Ohrid airports served 3,331,685 passengers in the first nine months of 2026, 29 percent more than a year earlier, and the new routes lead mostly to Italy, Poland, Turkey, Hungary and Austria.

According to TAV Macedonia data, the airports in Skopje and Ohrid served 3,331,685 passengers from January to September 2026, a 29 percent increase compared with the same period last year. Skopje airport handled 3,065,692 passengers (up 29.07 percent) and Ohrid 265,993 (up 26.76 percent).

Passenger growth is far bigger than flight growth: a total of 22,147 flights were operated, only 10 percent more. That works out to about 150 passengers per flight, meaning larger and fuller aircraft. The summer schedule added new routes from Skopje to Naples, Budapest, Palermo, Alghero, Trabzon and Samsun, and from Ohrid to Milan, Vienna, Wroclaw and Katowice.

The network now includes 15 airlines flying to 54 scheduled destinations from Skopje and 7 airlines to 24 charter destinations, while 8 airlines fly from Ohrid to 17 destinations. With the record figures published, the open question is how much of the growth is lasting supply and how much is seasonal, especially for Ohrid, whose schedule depends on the tourist season.
