Six Candidates, One Municipality: Who Is Running for the Late Mayor’s Seat in Brvenica on October 18
The State Election Commission confirmed six candidate lists for the early mayoral election in Brvenica on October 18, after the death of Ivica Ilievski on June 23.
Residents of the Municipality of Brvenica vote on October 18 for a new mayor. The election is early because Mayor Ivica Ilievski died on June 23, aged 58. According to the State Election Commission, six candidate lists have been submitted: four from coalitions and two from voter groups.
The candidates are Jovica Radeski (a coalition led by SDSM), Jakup Useini (VLEN), Stojancho Radichevski (the “Your Macedonia” coalition, whose candidacy was submitted by VMRO-DPMNE), Arkin Jahija (National Alliance for Integration), and the independents Arife Idrizi and Dushan Bogdanovski, who are running through voter groups.
Brvenica is a small municipality, so the result will also be read as a test of the balance of power between the big parties. How many voters it has and how they voted in previous elections is not stated in the source we checked, so we offer no forecasts — only the list of those on the ballot.
