Konsevič's Bronze and Rustemovski's Guaranteed Medal Boost Macedonia to Six

Veronika Konsevič secured Macedonia's fifth medal at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, winning bronze in women's freestyle wrestling in the -57kg category. In the bronze-medal bout, she beat Serbia's Milica Petrović by a convincing 7:5 on points.

With this medal, Konsevič joins the three wrestlers who earlier secured medals for the country — Fati Vejseli and Redžep Hajdari with silver, and Ahmad Magomedov with bronze — confirming wrestling as the most productive sport for Macedonian success at these Games.

Rustemovski Already Guaranteed a Podium Spot

A sixth medal for the delegation is already secured — boxer Alen Rustemovski knocked out Albania's Ariol Zeneli in the third round of the -60kg quarterfinal, automatically guaranteeing at least a bronze. Today at 3 PM, he'll fight for an even better color in the semifinal against Spain's Marin Hernandez.

Morocco on the Schedule

The U20 football team plays its final and decisive group-stage match against Morocco today. After a 0:0 draw with Tunisia and a 3:0 loss to Turkey, coach Aleksandar Tanevski's squad enters the match in third place in the group with just one point — today's duel, with Morocco in a similar position, is more a matter of pride than an actual path to the later stages.

With at least six medals secured so far, Macedonia already has a solid tally at this year's Games, and the delegation continues its campaign across the remaining sports until competition closes on September 3.
