New Fire Breaks Out Near Gradsko, Between Two Villages

The blaze between Gorno and Dolno Čičevo is one of 31 fires recorded nationwide in the past 24 hours amid ongoing drought and heat.

A fire broke out today in the Gradsko municipality, in the area between the villages of Gorno Čičevo and Dolno Čičevo, with firefighting crews dispatched immediately due to the blaze's rapid spread.

This fire joins an already long list of active hot spots across the country — 31 open-air fires were recorded in the past 24 hours, three of them still active, four under control, and 24 fully extinguished. The combination of prolonged drought, high temperatures and strong winds continues to create favorable conditions for any new fire to spread quickly.

Terrain Between Two Villages

The fire's location — between Gorno and Dolno Čičevo — requires a coordinated response to prevent it from spreading toward both settlements at once. Firefighting crews have already established containment lines, and conditions on the ground are being closely monitored throughout the day.

While the number of fires remains high, authorities emphasize that the firefighting response is already showing results — most daily hot spots end up fully extinguished within a few hours, even under extreme heat conditions.
