Data Centre by Term's End, m.Uslugi by Late October — Andonovski Lays Out the Deadlines
The minister denied any permit for a 100-megawatt centre using Vardar water. The AI strategy is expected by year-end.
Digital Transformation Minister Stefan Andonovski, in an interview with "360 Degrees," laid out timelines for the ministry's three announced digital projects — with varying degrees of firmness.
The national data centre, according to Andonovski, will be built before the government's term ends, with a cornerstone expected next year. He denied that any permit had been granted or contract signed for a 100-megawatt data centre that would use water from the Vardar river — a claim that had been circulating publicly, which the minister directly rejected.
The "m.Uslugi" mobile app, meant to give citizens their personal documents and government services directly on their phones, will launch in late October. "I am aware this is a process that will take time," Andonovski said, not shying away from the fact that the project is already running behind previously announced deadlines.
The national AI strategy, meanwhile, is expected to be adopted by year's end, with a law on AI use as part of the same regulatory package. The minister separately clarified that "Vezilka" and the new IT infrastructure procurement for e-government "can complement each other" rather than duplicate one another — the same line taken earlier this month by the General Secretariat.
