Gerasimovski Elected New SDSM Deputy Chair, While the Party Sharply Criticises the "12:05" Platform
The Central Board elected the Centar mayor. In parallel, SDSM accuses former members of "distraction" from key issues.
At a session of the SDSM Central Board held on 24 September in Bihaćka, Centar Municipality mayor Goran Gerasimovski was elected the party's new deputy chair. "We don't always have to think alike, we don't always have to agree, but we must know what unites us," Gerasimovski said after the vote.
At the same time, SDSM's party office has sharply criticised the "12:05" initiative — a group of former party members, including MPs, calling for leadership changes — in a series of statements. SDSM accused the platform of "distraction" from key issues and said it amounts to a continuation of attempts to weaken and divide the party.
The "12:05" platform, under the slogan "Conversations About the Future," is announcing a public discussion on 26 September at the "Stone Bridge" hotel titled "35 Years Later..." An official response from the initiative itself to SDSM's criticism, based on available sources, has not yet come.
SDSM's Executive Board will review the whole situation during the week, though that body formally has no authority to expel party members — and party representatives deny speculation that such a move is planned.
