Ohrid's St. Erasmo Hospital in North Macedonia to Open New Wing With Four Operating Rooms by Year's End
A €2-million-plus investment will fund a new wing at the specialized hospital, which aims to become a regional referral center for orthopedics and neurosurgery.
The St. Erasmo Special Hospital for Orthopedics and Traumatology in Ohrid, North Macedonia, is set to open a new wing with four modern operating rooms — up from just one and a half currently — by the end of the year. The investment exceeds €2 million.
Health Minister Zaur Klekovski said the deadline has been set for New Year, by which point the entire new hospital building should be in use. Construction and equipment procurement are being funded by the Health Insurance Fund, the hospital's own budget, other state institutions, and donations from socially responsible companies.
The project had stalled since 2017, but work has now resumed and a contractor has been selected to complete the construction. Hospital director Haralampie Shokarovski said the goal is for the institution to become a referral center in orthopedics and neurosurgery, backed by government support and improved conditions for patients.
