After a 10-Year Standstill, Tender Coming for FINKI's Two New Buildings at North Macedonia's UKIM Campus
The two unfinished buildings, begun in 2013, will now go entirely to the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering.
After more than a decade at a standstill, two unfinished buildings on the social sciences campus of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje are finally moving toward completion. Construction began in 2013 but stalled after building standards and requirements changed.
According to North Macedonia's Ministry of Education and Science, the design project for completing the two buildings is expected to be ready by November, after which a tender for a contractor will be announced immediately. Both buildings will now go entirely to the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (FINKI), rather than being split with the Faculty of Physical Education, Sport and Health as originally planned.
Officials said neither building, in its current state, fully meets the needs of FINKI or the physical education faculty. For the latter, the government instead plans to renovate an existing structure rather than continue construction on the unfinished building.
