Von der Leyen's Balkan Tour to Include North Macedonia Sept 30–Oct 2, Serbia and Bosnia Visits Postponed
Her sixth consecutive annual regional visit will cover Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia, focused on gradual EU integration.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will travel across the Western Balkans from September 30 to October 2, in her sixth consecutive annual visit to the region. The trip will take her to Albania (Tirana), Kosovo (Pristina) and North Macedonia (Skopje).
Visits to Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina have been postponed this time. According to a Commission spokesperson, the reason is the upcoming parliamentary and general elections in both countries, with the president expected to visit them at a later date.
In the countries she visits, von der Leyen will meet with heads of state and government and tour EU-funded projects. Discussions will focus on the next steps on the path to EU membership and progress on gradual integration, supported through the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.
