The East Waits for Asphalt: Design Tender Announced for Kočani–Vinica–Delčevo Road, but No Firm Deadlines Yet
Unlike Radovish-Strumica, where a consultant is already being selected on a clear timeline, the eastern route still has no precise timetable.
The government has published a tender for a feasibility study and design solution for the Kočani–Vinica–Delčevo expressway, moving the project into its initial phase. Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said the government will continue supporting such infrastructure efforts in the eastern region.
Unlike the parallel Radovish–Strumica–Novo Selo project, where a concrete procedure to select a consultant is already underway with a precise deadline (October 8) and an expected study duration of six to nine months, no specific timeline or details on length and cost have yet been published for the Kočani–Vinica–Delčevo road.
Mickoski noted that municipalities in the region are carrying out projects despite challenges with frozen accounts, but he offered no concrete timeframe for when the eastern route might get an expressway link comparable to the one planned for the country's southeast.
