Direct flight Skopje–Tivat from May 1, 2027, two flights a week

Nikoloski announced the route after meeting Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović. The carrier, the price and the airports are not stated.

Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski announced on October 30 that from May 1, 2027 a direct air route will start between Skopje and Tivat in Montenegro. The route will operate twice a week. He made the announcement after meeting Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister Filip Ivanović. The news was carried by Republika, MKD.MK, Radio Lider, A1on, Makfax, Zurnal and others.

What is confirmed. The start date (May 1), the route (Skopje–Tivat) and the number of flights (two a week, at least initially). Nikoloski said the route will contribute to more passengers, to trade between the two countries and to the development of tourism and business. According to him, it is a result of the talks from the visit to Montenegro about 20 days ago.

What is not stated. The carrier, ticket prices, flight codes and the day and time of departure have not been published. The reports name only the cities, not the specific airports. There is also no information on whether the route has already been agreed with a carrier.

Additional routes. According to Makfax and Zurnal, talks with the Montenegrin government also cover routes Skopje–Podgorica and Ohrid–Tivat. That is not confirmed and is only at the stage of talks.

What else was agreed. The two deputy prime ministers agreed to organise a large business forum next year for companies from both countries, focused on investment and partnerships. Nikoloski also mentioned that the Skopje–Blace motorway has been under construction since the end of August and that, according to him, it will connect Macedonia with the port of Bar. Macedonia is already connected with Thessaloniki, and a link to Durrës is being built, with the aim of access to at least three ports. These are his statements, not independent verification.

The EU aspect. Nikoloski welcomed Montenegro’s reform agenda and assessed that its EU membership would be an incentive for the region. No statements by Ivanović have been reported.

What it means for passengers. A direct flight shortens the trip to the Montenegrin coast, which until now required travel by road or with a transfer. How useful the route will be depends on the price, the schedule and whether it departs on days suitable for weekends and business trips. Two flights a week offer limited choice.

Time until the start. From the announcement to May 1, 2027 there is a little more than six months. In that time a carrier has to be chosen, a schedule published and ticket sales opened. So far none of those steps has been publicly confirmed.

What to follow. Which carrier will operate the route, when ticket sales will start and whether the talks on Podgorica and Ohrid will be confirmed. There is enough time before May 1 for that, but without a carrier and a price the announcement remains only an intention.
