Prosecution Seeks 30-Day Detention for Three Suspects in Terrorism and Weapons Trafficking Case
Following yesterday's police and security-agency operation in Skopje, prosecutors have requested detention for three suspects — one charged with terrorism, all three with illegal manufacturing and trafficking of weapons and explosives.
The Basic Public Prosecution Office for Organized Crime and Corruption (OJO GOKK) has filed a request with the Basic Criminal Court in Skopje for 30-day detention of three individuals, suspects from Monday's operation carried out by the police and the National Security Agency.
According to the official statement, one of the individuals is charged with an offense related to terrorism, while all three are suspected of illegal manufacturing, possession and trafficking of weapons and explosive materials. The prosecution says the order to conduct an investigative procedure is based on evidence secured during a prior pre-investigative procedure, documentation and evidence from a matter already in judicial proceedings, and evidence obtained through international legal assistance.
This marks the official confirmation and narrowing of the number of formally charged individuals — three, compared with the six initially reported as detained in Monday's operation — suggesting some of those initially held were released without charge. Official names and details of the weapons seized have not yet been disclosed.
