Six Arrested in Skopje on Terrorism Charges as Sniper Rifles and ISIS Flags Reportedly Found
In a joint operation by police and the National Security Agency, overseen by the organized-crime prosecution, six people were detained on suspicion of terrorism-related offenses, with searches still ongoing at several locations.
North Macedonia's Ministry of Interior and the National Security Agency (ANB) carried out a joint operation in Skopje and the surrounding area, detaining six people on suspicion of terrorism-related offenses. The action is being supervised by a prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecution Office for Organized Crime and Corruption.
According to unofficial reports, searches at multiple locations turned up sniper rifles, several handguns and flags bearing ISIS symbols. Equipment allegedly used for illegal cryptocurrency mining was also reportedly discovered. Some of the suspects are said to have had prior links to terrorist organizations or ongoing contact with their members.
The operation follows a series of similar security actions targeting recruitment and the spread of extremist propaganda through closed social-media channels, after comparable arrests in December 2024 and May 2026. Official details from the prosecution and police are expected once the operation concludes.
