Alta banka Clients Without Cards Can Withdraw Up to 20,000 Denars at a Counter in Bitola From November 5, at Most Once Every Two Weeks

Pensioners and social assistance recipients have priority and will receive appointments by SMS. A practical overview and what has not been published.

Clients of Alta banka AD Bitola who do not have payment cards will be able to withdraw cash at a counter in the main branch in Bitola from November 5, up to 20,000 denars. This was announced by the National Bank and relayed by Governor Trajko Slaveski. It continues the portal’s earlier text on the administration and limits at the bank.

How much and how often. The maximum is 20,000 denars for a period of two weeks. By our calculation, that equals the weekly limit of 10,000 denars for cards, added up over two weeks, and at a rate of 61.5 denars per euro it is about €325. So for people without a card the amount is not larger, they are only given a way to reach their own money.

Where. The payout is at the main branch in Bitola, at Dobrivoe Radosavljevikj 21. Several counters reserved only for cash withdrawals will be open, with no other transactions.

Who has priority. The emphasis is on pensioners and social assistance recipients who receive funds through accounts at the bank. The SDSM party cites a figure of about 11,000 pensioners with restrictions and queues, but that is a political statement carried in press releases, not an official figure.

How to get an appointment. Payments will be spread over several days according to a set schedule. Citizens will receive an SMS with a specific date and time to come. For those who cannot come in the assigned period, additional slots will be provided.

Opening hours. From November 6, including Saturday, November 7, the branch will work in two shifts. The exact hours are not stated in the sources we read.

Other cities. The National Bank said that counters for pensioners and social assistance recipients are being prepared in other cities as well. Which cities and when has not been published.

Figures from the governor. According to Slaveski’s statements carried by the media, transactions from and to Serbia after October 26 are small: about €180,000 in outflows and €16,000 in inflows, and they were regular. That is a statement, not a published document, so it should be read with care.

What is unclear. The sources we read do not say which documents to bring, how many clients are without a card, or how the schedule will work if someone does not receive an SMS. It has also not been published when an exit from administration is expected, which according to NBRM lasts at most three months from November 1. The safest course is therefore to check with the bank through the announced channels.
