Sedloski Calls Up 26 Players, 20 of Them Based Abroad, While Miovski Is Absent for Scotland and Slovenia
North Macedonia plays on November 13 in Glasgow and on November 16 in Skopje. Where the called-up players play and what is known about Miovski’s absence.
Coach Goce Sedloski on November 3 announced a list of 26 players for the last two Nations League matches, against Scotland and against Slovenia. North Macedonia will play on November 13 in Glasgow and on November 16 in Skopje, at the Todor Proeski National Arena. The kick-off times are not stated in the reports we read.
Who is called up. According to the list, the goalkeepers are Stole Dimitrievski, Damjan Shishkovski and Davor Taleski. The defence consists of Nikola Serafimov, Anes Meljichi, Visar Musliu, Imran Fetai, Ezgjan Alioski, Mario Mladenovski, Sebastijan Herera, Bojan Ilievski and Stefan Despotovski. In midfield are Enis Bardhi, Boban Nikolov, Jani Atanasov, Agon Elezi, Elif Elmas, Ljupche Doriev, Darko Churlinov, Matej Gashtarov, Dimitar Mitrovski and Luka Stankovski. Attack: Marko Gjorgievski, Elmin Rastoder, Azer Omeragic and Hristijan Maleski.
A map of the clubs. According to the clubs listed in Ekipa’s report, 20 of the 26 called-up players play outside North Macedonia and the other six in domestic clubs: Vardar, Shkendija and Struga Trim Lum (our calculation). Those 20 play in 17 countries: Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Belgium, Croatia, Albania, Serbia, Switzerland, Romania, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Italy, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Poland, Slovenia and Greece.
Known clubs. Dimitrievski is at Valencia, Elmas at Atalanta, Alioski at Lugano, Rastoder at Panathinaikos, Churlinov at Pogoń Szczecin, Bardhi at Konyaspor and Gashtarov at Crvena Zvezda. That is a picture of how widely Macedonian footballers are spread across Europe and beyond.
Returnees. According to Sportski.mk, four players return to the list: Churlinov, Fetai, Despotovski and Serafimov. Ekipa does not name other returnees, so we carry this with reservation.
Miovski’s absence. Bojan Miovski is not on the list. The reports give no reason, and Marko Gjorgievski of Shkendija is called up in his place. The brief we use mentions a possible link to playing time at his club, but that is not confirmed, so we do not take it as fact. Only when the coach or the FFM gives an explanation will we know what stands behind the decision.
What is at stake. The two matches end North Macedonia’s Nations League campaign. The group table and the team’s current position are not part of the reports we read, so we make no assumptions about the placing.
What to follow. Whether Sedloski explains the list at a press conference before Glasgow, in what form the returnees arrive and what the line-ups for the two matches will be.
