Macedonia Signs Memorandum Joining the Vertical Gas Corridor

A memorandum was signed in Thessaloniki today under which Macedonia officially joins the Vertical Gas Corridor, a project aimed at opening alternative natural gas supply routes and reducing the region's dependence on a single source.
Energy Minister Sanja Božinovska took part in the signing, confirming the country's continued energy diplomacy activity — a step that follows the recently signed agreement for the Macedonia-Serbia interconnector gas pipeline.
Part of a Broader Regional Network
The Vertical Gas Corridor is designed to connect liquid natural gas sources in southern Europe (via terminals in Greece) with countries in central and southeastern Europe, creating an alternative to traditional supply routes. For Macedonia, joining this corridor means further diversification of energy sources, alongside already ongoing interconnection projects with neighboring countries.
Energy connectivity remains a priority topic in the region, particularly amid broader geopolitical considerations around energy security in Europe.
