Mickoski Departs for Washington: Talks on Energy and Defence Investment, Krivolak on Offer
The PM announces meetings in the Senate, Congress and State Department, followed by the UN General Assembly.
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski left today with a government delegation for a visit to the United States, where he announced high-level meetings in the Senate, Congress and the State Department, as well as with representatives of the US finance institution DFC.
Speaking this evening on MRT 1's main news programme, Mickoski said part of the talks would focus on companies in the energy sector and advanced technology. "They have shown interest in other projects in energy and advanced technology too, so I want to offer our capacities in more depth," he said.
Special focus will also go to defence-industry companies the government wants to attract as investors. In that context, Mickoski mentioned the Krivolak military training range. "We are drafting a new law with the Ministry of Defence to offer our Krivolak training ground," the prime minister said, adding that attracting investment in this sector could speed up economic growth.
After Washington, the delegation continues to New York, where Mickoski will take part in this year's UN General Assembly. Several meetings with heads of state are already confirmed, with a focus on neighbouring countries, and the delegation will also attempt bilateral meetings with Gulf state delegations. A meeting with the Bulgarian delegation is not currently planned.
