Mickoski Meets Macedonian Diaspora in New Jersey: "Wherever Our People Are, That Too Is Part of Macedonia"
The PM attended liturgy and met the community. Diaspora representatives are asking for more investment.
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski attended liturgy at the "Saints Cyril and Methodius" church in New Jersey, meeting with the Macedonian community in the US as part of his working visit to the United States.
"Today I attended liturgy at the 'Saints Cyril and Methodius' church in New Jersey, where I also met with our Macedonian community. Thank you for the warm hospitality and the dedication with which Macedonians in the diaspora keep their bond with the homeland. Our care and support for Macedonian communities outside Macedonia remains strong, because wherever our people are, that too is part of Macedonia," Mickoski wrote on Facebook.
Church community president Toni Kocevski called the visit significant. "It's a great pleasure to have such a visit in our community, to see the prime minister with our people and sit with us. That's not something you see and experience every day," Kocevski said, adding he hopes for more intensive cooperation, more investment, and better conditions for people to return.
Sinisha Spasovski, an emigrant living in New York, welcomed the gesture: "This sign of attention from the state gives us a feeling that we are not left to ourselves, but that our state and our officials care about us."
