Nintendo Reveals Full Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake for Switch 2
The November 5 release features overhauled visuals and a microphone feature letting players hum songs for Link to play.
Nintendo fully revealed the Switch 2 remake of the classic "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" during a Nintendo Direct marking the Zelda franchise's 40th anniversary. The game releases November 5, 2026.
The remake of the 1998 original comes with completely overhauled visuals, fully voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue, an orchestral soundtrack, improved camera and controls, a day-night cycle throughout the entire game, and a microphone feature that lets players hum or play real melodies for the character Link to perform on the ocarina.
Nostalgia Amid a New Console Generation
The announcement immediately triggered split reactions — supporters of the remake see it as a faithful modern interpretation that respects the original's epic weight, while critics feel the new visual style is too "realistic" and loses some of the stylized charm of the original N64 version.
A special Zelda 40th anniversary Switch 2 edition, along with a physical ocarina accessory, were also unveiled during the event, further boosting interest among franchise fans.
