China Launches Its Largest-Ever Drills Around Taiwan After US Arms Deal
The scale of the exercises exceeds all previous editions, putting Taiwanese forces on high alert.
China launched its largest-ever live-firing military exercises around Taiwan, immediately following a large US arms shipment to the island, putting Taiwanese forces on high alert.
The drills are part of a continuing pattern of military force demonstration in the Taiwan Strait region, but the scale and intensity of this particular round exceed all previous editions, according to local observers.
A Response to US Military Aid
The timing of the drills — right after the announcement of the major US military aid package for Taiwan — is being read as a direct signal of displeasure and warning from Beijing. This sequence of events has long been a characteristic pattern in regional dynamics, where every step to strengthen Taiwan's defenses triggers a corresponding show of force from China.
International observers are closely watching the drills for any signs that could indicate longer-term intentions, in a region whose stability directly affects global trade and semiconductor supply chains.
