Skopje was the center of world electronic music last night — around 50,000 people gathered at the "Todor Proeski" National Arena for David Guetta's concert, a spectacle that capped off the month-long celebration of Macedonia's 35th independence anniversary.
The French DJ, producer and hitmaker performed his two-hour stage show "The Monolith Stadium Show," accompanied by pyrotechnics, powerful light effects and striking visual elements. SEMPRE and DJ Nikifor opened the evening, warming up the crowd ahead of the main act.
One of the Biggest Music Nights in Recent History
Guetta's performance was part of the month-long Independence Day celebration, held this year under the theme "A Brightly Shining Day," which also included a concert by tenor José Carreras with the Macedonian Philharmonic on September 1, and a multimedia stage spectacle featuring over 120 artists on September 4.
With thousands of phones raised in the air and thunderous crowd reactions, Guetta's concert is considered one of the biggest music nights in the country's recent history, putting an emphatic close on the anniversary celebrations.
