Seahawks Edge Patriots in Super Bowl Rematch to Open NFL Season
Backup QB Drew Lock stepped up after starter Sam Darnold went down early with a hip injury.
The Seattle Seahawks opened their new NFL season with a 13-10 win over the New England Patriots, in a rematch of their recent Super Bowl meeting.
Seattle's starting quarterback Sam Darnold suffered an early hip injury, and backup Drew Lock stepped in, delivering a key 45-yard touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Defense Seals It
Seattle's defense proved decisive, intercepting Patriots quarterback Drake Maye three times in the fourth quarter, including a game-sealing pick in the end zone. Maye had a solid start, including a touchdown pass to rookie Eli Raridon, but faded late as the defense took over.
