Stevcho Jakimovski Could Walk Free as Supreme Court Quashes Final Verdict
The Supreme Court granted an extraordinary review and sent the case back to the Skopje Criminal Court.
The Supreme Court has overturned the final verdict against Stevcho Jakimovski of Skopje and sent the case back to the first-instance court for a new trial.
The ruling was issued by the Supreme Court's Criminal Panel on 9 September 2026, in case KVP KOK2-18/26, granting an extraordinary review request filed by Jakimovski's defense lawyer, Viktor Cvetkovski of Kumanovo.
What Exactly Was Overturned
The panel quashed both the Skopje Criminal Court's verdict KOK-157/21 of 23 April 2025 and the Skopje Appellate Court's verdict KOKZ-110/25 of 15 May 2026, sending the case back to first instance. Jakimovski reported to Skutka prison in July; whether he is released while the case is redone was not yet confirmed at publication.
