Customs Deputy Arrested Over €17,500-Plus Bribe After Fleeing Police
The deputy head of the Customs Administration's administrative sector was caught with marked bills tied to a tender.
Xhever Imeri, employed at the Customs Administration as deputy head of the administrative sector, has been detained on suspicion of soliciting more than €17,500 in connection with a Customs tender.
The Interior Ministry says marked bills were used. After taking the money, Imeri ignored a police order and tried to flee. Officers later caught him.
A Management Post, Not a Crossing Booth
The sum is secondary. The point is the office: a tender inside the service that polices the border and imports. The tender name and the other party have not been published pending charges. Macedonia has seen customs cases before, but this one sits higher — a management post, not a border crossing booth.
