Over 2,900 Dancers From 26 Countries at the European Dance Championship in Skopje, 21-29 September

The "Boris Trajkovski" Sports Centre hosts modern, jazz and classical ballet. Ballerina Stefanija Gashtarska stars in the promo.

Skopje hosts the IDO European Dance Championship 2026 from 21 to 29 September, organised by the "Break a Leg" dance studio. More than 2,900 dancers from 26 European countries will compete at the "Boris Trajkovski" Sports Centre, in modern, jazz and classical ballet categories.

The event's promotional video was filmed at Macedonia Square and the "Macedonian Village" complex, starring Stefanija Gashtarska — the first Macedonian ballerina to perform on the stage of a major international production. The championship's slogan is "Where elegance meets tradition."

"Beyond the cultural and sporting side of the championship, it matters to us that through this event we are promoting Macedonian tradition and the values the world always admires when visiting Macedonia," organisers Trajche and Andrijana Petkovski said.

The event follows the 2024 World Hip-Hop Championship, which organisers cite as a precedent for successfully hosting a major international dance event in Skopje. Nine days of competition will show whether public interest and logistical readiness match the scale of the event.
